Baptism   The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated on the first and third Sundays of the month at 2:30 p.m. In Spanish, baptisms are celebrated at the 12:30 p.m. Spanish Mass on the second and fourth Sundays of the month. Arrangements for the reception of this sacrament are to be made in advance at the Parish Office. Parents and Godparents are required to attend a special preparation class before the baptism of their first child. For more information and to schedule, contact the Parish Office at 708-485-2900.

Reconciliation

Confessions are heard on Saturdays from 8:45 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and by appointment. If this time is not convenient, please call the Parish Office at (708) 485-2900 to arrange for a more convenient time.

First Holy Communion

This is the most holy Sacrament of the Church and its celebration requires adequate preparation. Children receive their first Holy Communion in the second grade where they are prepared through regular classes at the St. Barbara Religious Education Program. Two year preparation for First Communion is required. Contact the Parish Office at 485-2900.

Confirmation

Confirmation is the Sacrament in which a Christian recommits himself/herself to the promises made for him/her at Baptism. Our students are prepared to receive this Sacrament during their 8th grade year at St. Barbara Religious Education Program. Two year preparation for Confirmation is required. Contact the Parish Office at 485-2900.

Adult Confirmation   Adults who have not been confirmed and would like to be, should contact the Parish Office at 708-485-2900 for more information.

Marriage   Marriage is the sacrament in which the Church joyfully joins a couple in celebrating the gift of love. The couple is asked to contact the priest or deacon at least four months in advance of their wedding date. To prepare for their new life together, the couple must participate in a marriage preparation program. Contact the Parish Office at 708-485-2900 for more information.

Anointing of the Sick

The Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick emphasizes the healing power of Christ. Therefore, the sick, those weak from old age, and those facing surgery are encouraged to receive this anointing. Please call the Parish Office at 708-485-2900 to make arrangements.

Hospital and Home Visits

The priests, deacons and lay ministers of the parish are more than happy to visit any parishioner who is ill — whether at home or in the hospital. Please call either the Parish Office at 708-485-2900 or the Pastoral Care office at 708-485-1036, to let us know since the hospitals do not always notify us.

Funerals

Please notify the Parish Office when a member dies so that the priest and pastoral care ministers may attend to the needs of the family and assist them in planning the Liturgy of Christian Burial; this includes wake service, Eucharistic liturgy and final commendation at the cemetery. Please call 708-485-2900 to make arrangements.

Hispanic Community   There is a Spanish Mass every Sunday at 12:30 p.m. Baptisms, Marriages, and Quinciñeras celebrations are provided and must be scheduled in advance. Contact Rev. Bolivar Molina at 708-485-2900 to make arrangements.

Eucharistic Adoration   Every Monday afternoon, from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., there is exposition of the Blessed Sacrament for private and silent devotion at St. Barbara Church.
