beds plusBEDS PLUS needs volunteers for their shelter program. St. Barbara’s Missionary Spirit Team wants to reach out to the wonderful and generous people of our Parish to help BEDS PLUS find the volunteers they need. Can you help? Since 1988, BEDS PLUS has given the homeless a safe place to sleep, hot homemade meals, professional counseling, and the job services they need to become self-sufficient. BEDS PLUS has a mission to help vulnerable individuals stabilize their lives through housing and supportive services. BEDS PLUS relies on a large corps of volunteers, dedicated staff and the long term support of local faith-based communities to help homeless individuals and families come in from the cold and get back on their feet. Help is provided for the homeless in our community (west suburban Cook County). These people come from diverse backgrounds and situations who may have fallen on hard times due to job loss or cutbacks in public services. Others struggle with mental illness or addiction. They are our veterans, family and our neighbors. To learn more about this local charity and the ways they help people in our community visit

Location: Various churches in West Suburban Cook County
Date/Time: Every Tuesday and Friday at St. Barbara. See SignUp Genius for details (link below)
Volunteers: Volunteers of all ages can help prepare meals. On-site volunteers must be 18 years or older. This is a great way to serve with your family, friends or group of co-workers.

Help the Elderly with Interfaith Community Partners

interfaith community partnersBy giving Interfaith Community Partners (ICP) a little of your free time you can make a big difference in the life of some of your neighbors!  With the help of ICP's volunteers, older adults living in our community maintain their independence.  ICP offers accompanied transportation, visitation, telephone reassurance and well-being checks. All transportation services are performed by trained volunteers who use their own vehicles to drive clients to appointments.  Please contact us if you have any questions -
